News to Help You Feel at Home in English
(And some giveaways too!)
Not All Language School Newsletters Suck
Of course, 95% do.
But the 5%! The newsletter that when you see them in your inbox, you know to clear a quiet 5 minutes to digest their content… get inspired/feel good.
Language school newsletters can be a bit… meh.
No one wants generic, how-to-learn-English tips in their inbox. (Everyone has different levels/learning needs).
Or worse, those manipulative ones: ‘how bad does your accent make you feel…’
Not to mention the nationalistic language schools in the UK that believe English belongs to them…
Naaaah. Click unsubscribe and feel instantly lighter.
At Blue Noun, we have REAL news to share.
(And perhaps some illustrations too).
At Blue Noun Language Hub, we do newsletters differently.
Here’s how.
English Learning – Differently!
It’s a celebration of all things good and beautiful – and it’s free.
Introducing Talk of the Wee Town
Wee Town Talk is a bi-monthly newsletter sharing the kinds of local happenings that capture people’s English learning interests.
Its format mimics the New Yorker’s Talk of the Town: short, impartial, bite-sized updates that give a flavour of the town.
I’ll be honest, I was sending DULL emails, then spending my free time messaging previous students the photo of a beaver I took last night, or updating them on my friend’s album launch event – or just sharing a great podcast.
It took a while for the penny to drop.
To work out what you would WANT to read.
The Inspiration
Real Connections
I have a WhatsApp account full of previous students asking for news about the people they met on their holiday.
Real Places
Students saying, ‘Crieff feels like home now’ as we drive into town (after just 1 week!)
Genuine Enthusiasm for Sharing
Resources! Every time I find a great podcast, article, or TV show, I wonder who I can share it with
Belief in Community
Our hub is about networks sharing art, ideas, and alternative, peaceful ways of living, learning and being.
Not only do we know that conversations can change lives, we celebrate it.
