We explore rural Scotland at a gentler pace, choosing experiences that give us reasons to notice the season rather than rush through it.

Instead of rushing towards more English, we slow down and explore the English you already have.

Want to stay for two weeks?
Book two consecutive weeks and we’ll include an overnight stay away between them.We can use this to travel a little further together, exploring somewhere that doesn’t fit comfortably into a normal day trip. Or, if you’d prefer some independent time between the two weeks, you could use the opportunity to spend time in one of Scotland’s cities.
Accommodation
You’ll have your own private bedroom with one of our carefully selected homestay hosts in Crieff. Your homestay is part of the Experience English experience, extending your connection with everyday Scottish life beyond the time we spend together.

Experience English: Autumn Moments: £1,950 per person, per week, plus local homestay accommodation at £25 per person, per night.

We turn the pace down and choose experiences that invite us to pause, notice and participate in the Scottish autumn — through landscape, wildlife, seasonal food, history, culture and the people we meet.
You might spend time with a nature guide, visit a farm or grower, watch migrating birds, pick seasonal fruit, cook with autumn produce, take the steamboat across Loch Katrine as the autumn colours change, canoe on Loch Tay and experience the calmness of being out on the water, explore a castle or gallery, walk somewhere beautiful, or simply make space for reading and a great conversation.
There is no fixed list to get through. The week responds to the season, the weather, local opportunities and the people taking part.
The point isn’t to see as much of Scotland as possible. It’s to give yourself time to savour being here.

For adult second-language English speakers (intermediate level and above) who feel that autumn always seems to slip past too quickly.
This holiday may suit you especially well if you:

You don’t need to be super-fit, but you should enjoy being outdoors and be comfortable walking 8–10 km in a day.

Where?
Perthshire (mostly), Scotland — Big Tree Country.
Perthshire is famous for its forests and remarkable trees, making it a perfect place to watch the season change. Through September and October, the landscape shifts around us: autumn colour deepens, wildlife prepares for winter and the light changes almost by the day.
We use Crieff and the Blue Noun Hub as our base, then explore the landscapes, historic places, wildlife, food, farms, makers and communities around us.
Autumn might take us into woodland, onto loch shores, to a castle or gallery, out with a nature guide, or somewhere we can slow down with traditional skills, materials and ways of making.
We aren’t trying to cover Scotland. We’re giving ourselves time to experience one part of it well.
A No-Classroom English Holiday
Autumn is a short, vivid season in Scotland — and Perthshire gives us an extraordinary place to watch it unfold.
Instead of sitting in a classroom, we take English into the season: into changing woodland, historic places, wildlife encounters, seasonal food, traditional crafts and conversations with the people we meet.
Some days might bring misty mornings and autumn colour. Others might bring migrating birds, apples ready to pick, an old building to explore, a nature guide with stories to share, or weather that makes coming home to cook, read and talk feel particularly good.
The season itself becomes part of the learning environment.

The Story of this Holiday
Autumn has a habit of slipping past.
Autumn Moments is about not missing it.
The week is designed around experiences that make us pause long enough to notice the season: watching geese gather on the mudflats, picking fruit, cooking with autumn produce, spending time among remarkable trees, encountering traditional materials and ways of making, or simply being outside when the light, weather or wildlife gives us a reason to stop.
You are travelling not only with an experienced language coach, but with someone whose background as an artist has shaped a lifetime of looking closely — at landscape, materials, people and the small details that make an experience memorable.
More recently, that curiosity has led me deeper into nature, wildlife and regenerative tourism. I spend time learning from nature guides, outdoor coaches and environmentalists, and thinking carefully about how I share Scotland’s landscapes and wildlife through my business.
The question behind that learning is a simple one:

That matters to Autumn Moments.
It means we aren’t trying to extract as many sights, activities or wildlife encounters as possible from a place. We can slow down. Wildlife can remain wild. Seasonal experiences can happen at their own pace. And we can choose encounters with people, places and landscapes that give something back as well as giving us something to enjoy.
The result is a week of remarkable, authentic pauses — some planned, others discovered as we go.
And because this is Experience English, those encounters give us something worth using English for: questions to ask, unfamiliar voices to listen to, stories to share and experiences worth finding the words for.

A Blue Noun Field Note
My Blue Noun Field Notes make visible some of what happens on a Blue Noun language holiday that a photograph alone can’t really explain.
This one started with noticing a beaver-chewed tree on a walk. Then we learned about beavers in Perthshire. And finally, it led to a beaver-watching expedition where a beaver swam right past us.
Language holidays need space for shared wonder too — moments when nobody is thinking about their English but deep connection is happening.
What People Notice By The End Of The Holiday
People who work in tourism here sometimes talk about Perthshire time.
You can see it happen.
A family arrives, unloading the car, bags everywhere, everyone slightly stressed, still moving at the pace of the life they’ve just left behind.
A few days later, you see the same family walking slowly together, collecting different types of grass heads or stacking stones on the riverbank.
Their pace has changed. You often don’t even realise you need this pause until you find it. And Sotland does it so well.
