I’m an English coach specialising in helping you enjoy your English, so you know I’m not offering to fix rude uncles, burnt sprouts or proper Christmas problems, but I do have a great way to rescue those wasted bits of time between all the good bits of Christmas…
Here’s my take:
Even if your Christmas joy-filled, our usual routines shut down—mostly for good reasons (we all need a break), but some of those routines we love (and keep us sane).
Favorite retreats are closed, and other places are overcrowded. Getting outdoors takes more mental effort—it’s dark and cold, after all.
Treat YOURSELF this Christmas
What replaces normal daily life is often imperfect—and for many women, just as task-filled. Behind all the nice moments the season brings, there’s often you giving so much to make other people happy.
So-called “time off” gets swallowed up by busywork: last-minute shopping, hunting for the end of the Sellotape (or even the Sellotape itself!), or making packed car pilgrimages to relatives.
It’s all a bit of a rush—only to find yourself waiting around for someone or something.
Days merge into one another during downtime when you either can’t or don’t want to work (and that’s fair!). But does that mean letting it all go to waste?
I say no.
