A Good Reason to Ask Your Questions
Later on this blog, I’ll answer the most frequently asked question about our language vacation holidays in the UK
But first, a quick reminder: I’m running a fundraiser this week for World Female Ranges.
You book a Zoom and ask me anything about taking an English conversation holiday exploring Scotland, and we donate £5.
Every 4 call buys a ranger a pair of boots, so even though you can book a call all year round, there’s never been a better time to do it!
Let’s Talk!
Book a video chat with me, Ruth, to ask any questions about how we help you improve your English through Scotland’s culture and landscapes

The Most Asked Question About our Language Holidays:
What’s the burning question, you ask?
Is it, can you give me place to disconnect from the city and crowds?
So far, no one has asked this, but they should.
We know Perthshire in Scotland so well, we can take you on walks where you feel alone in nature.
So many language schools are inside cities. It’s a convent location – for them, not for you.

Or is it about how we share feshly sourced, delicious meals
Great food is an essential component of your language holiday. We want you to be relaxed, happy and feeling great and enjoying delicious, local, healthy food is key.
We also love sharing a quite traditional Scottish whisky-tasting experience. It can help you feel like you belong here.
You can learn how we celebrate food and drink.
Is it about how I can help you enjoy speaking English?
Nope.
Since you asked, I help you enjoy speaking English by immersing you in Scotland’s communities and landscapes, sharing our culture generously.
Is it about the people you’ll meet on your conversation holiday?
Again, nope.
But since you are here, I share my friends, family and community. You’ll meet artists in their studios and conservationists who’ll guide you through their projects. I know where to take you for conversations that you will remember for YEARS.
(And that makes for a deep connection to English!)
Is it how our holidays share nature in non-invasive ways?
I would love to get asked this question more.
We practice responsible and sustainable tourism and get you outdoors by partnering with businesses/guides and nature lovers who share nature without disturbing wildlife.
Plus, if you are asking this question then you are the kind of person we most want to help with their English.
Or Is it how we choose the right homestay host for you?
Nope, (which is a bit of a waste considering the care that goes into first selecting our English language homestay hosts, then matching them to our guests).
The Most Asked Question

It’s why did I call my business Blue Noun?
The Answer
If I invite you to close your eyes and picture a language school...
…You all will have a similar mental image (desks, whiteboard, etc.).
For a start, that is NOT what us helping you looks like.
Secondly, this may trigger a bit of stress or anxiety.
Many of the people we help have had bad experiences in a language class: felt trapped, and inadequate.
(You can read more about this here, on Why You are Not Bad at English).
If I invite you to close your eyes and picture a blue noun...
…everybody’s going to have a completely different idea in mind.
That’s how we share English language experiences.
Not by creating one structure and expecting you to fit into it (and blaming you when you don’t).
We begin by learning about you, your interests, your passionate causes, and the things you need to feel valued and secure in a learning environment.
And then, only then do we work out how we can help you feel great speaking English on your language vacation.
It looks different for everyone!
