Add a Private English Experience to Your Scotland Holiday
For travellers who want to feel part of Scotland, not just pass through it.
If you don’t already know us, we specialise in real-world English — using genuine experiences to build confidence and grow your skills naturally.
Most of the people we work with are professionals who use English in their working lives — often very competently. But somewhere along the way, they forgot to enjoy it. Or they use it with a small voice in their head telling them they’re wrong.
We create private English experiences for travellers in Stirling and Perthshire who want to feel part of Scotland, not just pass through it. From our base in Crieff, we shape bespoke days that blend conversation coaching with landscape, culture, creativity and outdoor life.
The result is a real-world English experience that builds confidence through connection and shared experience.
Who It’s For
You may be travelling with the hope that your English will naturally improve while you’re here.
And sometimes it does.
But often, without the right structure and support, it’s hard to move beyond surface conversations. You listen more than you speak. You search for words. You hold back slightly.
These private days are for people who want something deeper — not more study, but better conversation.
You already use English in your professional life. You don’t need grammar lessons. You need the right setting, the right pace, and someone to help conversation open up naturally.
The Middle Way
You don’t need a full course to make progress with your English.
Many travellers choose a middle way — adding a small number of well-placed experiences into their trip, so their English develops naturally alongside it.
What’s Happening this Month?
If you are here in Perthshire, you can also see what’s happening this week on the Blue Noun Google profile, where we share small, live experiences: public events or workshops that can be joined independently while you’re in the area.
Language Coaching Experiences
Option 01, Where We Share a Remarkable Guide
These are bespoke, one-off days shaped around you — your interests, your energy, and the season you’re travelling in.
You might spend time in the landscape with a local guide who shares stories of the land.
Or take part in a small creative session where conversation flows naturally through making.
You might work with a musician to shape your experience into song.
I hold the rhythm of the day, creating space for conversation to unfold, for questions to feel welcome, and for your English to settle into lived experience.
Enjoy a carefully shaped day where language grows through real connection.
Investment
Private 4-hour English experiences with one specialist collaborator are £295 (one person). Add £100 for a second participant.
Experiences involving more than one specialist collaborator are priced individually.
(Family options available).
Option 02, Where We Share the Joy of Sketching
A private half-day experience, led personally by Ruth
We spend an unhurried morning or afternoon in the formal gardens at Drummond Castle Gardens, sketchbooks in hand. The invitation is simple: slow down and study one small detail. A leaf. The structure of a tree. The geometry of the parterre. If the weather turns, we continue inside the glasshouse.
This is not about artistic perfection. It’s about attention.
For those staying closer to Stirling, we can shape this same slow sketching experience in the Japanese Garden at Cowden in Dollar — a place designed for reflection, balance and quiet observation.
Here, the focus may shift to the curve of a bridge, the texture of bark, the stillness of water, or the structure of a single branch. The pace remains unhurried. Conversation unfolds gently as we draw, noticing detail and allowing language to grow through attention.
A simple picnic is provided, all art materials are included, and garden entry is covered in the price.
Investment: £225 (private half-day experience).
Add £100 for a second and additional participants
Option 03, Family English Workshop
A private half-day experience, led personally by Ruth
Turn a visit to Deep Sea World, Edinburgh, into a private English experience for you or your family.
We’ll explore the exhibits and visitor experience together, with me keeping kids entertained and English flowing.
Investment: Starts at £300 for a family of 3.

Option 04, Arts & Crafts Workshop at Blue Noun
Creative English: Zine Sessions
A small, guided workshop where conversation builds naturally alongside making.
A quiet, focused way to use your English in a real setting — without pressure.
A Real World Example
This page gives a sense of how a private English day in Perthshire can take shape. Here, the day is built around an expert-led nature walk, then carried through with conversation, reflection, and a quiet closing moment. It shows how English becomes part of the experience — not added on, but growing out of what you’ve seen and shared.
English Help
Review & Revive: A One-to-One English Clarity Session
If you’re travelling through Perthshire and thinking, “I should do something with my English while I’m here” — but you don’t want a lesson — this is for you.
Review & Revive is a one-to-one conversation designed to give you a clear overview of your English, your options, and what actually makes sense for you next.
We meet in person in Crieff for a focused, practical session. You can bring your questions, your past experiences, or simply a sense that your English could be used better than it is right now.
Together, we step back from the noise of online learning and look at your situation properly — what’s working, what’s not, and what direction is worth your time.
You leave with clarity, a sense of direction, and a short written summary you can use to guide your next steps — whether that’s with us or elsewhere.

About Your English
Our starting point is always the holiday. English comes second.
We believe that when you feel relaxed, curious and connected to the place around you, your language grows naturally.
Each private day is shaped around real experiences — in the landscape, through creativity, or alongside trusted local collaborators. I hold the rhythm of the day, offering gentle support where needed and creating space for conversation to deepen.
There’s no performance pressure and no over-correction. English isn’t something to get through — it’s something to live in.
If you’re rushing to see everything, you miss the details.
We slow down to take in what is wonderfully local — and that’s where true connection happens.
About Ruth
In my years teaching in a commercial language school, I noticed something surprising. The most meaningful progress didn’t happen during the lesson itself, but in the first and last five minutes — when the textbook was closed, the pressure dropped, and people could finally relax into real conversation. That’s where confidence began. Again and again, I saw people who felt stuck or self-conscious start to enjoy using English.
Now, I bring that same approach into my private 1:1 English experiences for travellers. Instead of sitting in a classroom, we take that “five-minute feeling” and expand it into your time here in Scotland — through walks, shared moments, and real conversation in real places.
Learning English with Ruth Pringle
If you’re wondering what a day like this actually feels like, I’ve put together a page of photos taken by people who’ve joined my holidays and coaching days. They show small, real moments from the week — including me, as things are actually happening — and give a clear sense of how English develops within them.
